i would like to learn about how to choose a good computer.

there are many many computers in store like Yodobashi and Bic Camera, but i am not sure which brand is the best and what kind of computer is useful… such as should i choose desktop or laptop? windows or mac??

in addition, computers have lots of functions and it is hard to choose what version is the best for my use.

Intel has various versions and the cost is different, but i do not know the difference between them…

should i choose 4GB version paying extra 8000yen?

for me it is really hard to make decision about computer’s hard disk.

if i have more information about computer, i can buy expensive computer wisely and can make quick decision and quick shopping, i would not walk around store for hours looking computers.

As long as we live in Japan, we are always afraid of earthquake.

Japan is full of plate boundaries; there is no place where earthquake never happen.

Many people have dead because of earthquake, and its tsunami and fire.

However, computer technology can help to reduce the number of victims of terrible disaster.

In October 2007, the Japan Meteorological Agency started to provide “ Earthquake Early Warnings.”

This new system provides the information of large magnitude earthquake that will occur soon to media such as TV and radio.

With this warning, people can hide under a desk, turn off the fire, gather important things, and ready to face a big earthquake.

But the timing until the main tremors is very short; a few to ten seconds.

The computers in Japan Meteorological Agency catch a wave of earthquake and send warnings to media.

If the computer technology is improved, it will be possible to catch the earthquake wave earlier and estimate its magnitude more exactly.

We can do more things to prepare earthquakes in the future with the development of the system.

”Hot Spot” is a place which provides internet access for wireless LAN.

People can use their laptop, iPhone or other device requires wireless connection to the Internet.

Hot Spot are places in hotels, airports, large train stations, libraries. Also universities offer Hot Spot for their students. The information of these places is available on the many websites.

In Japan, Hot Spot is available mainly in hotels and airports, also some café and fast food restaurants; for example, MacDonald’s, Mos Burger, Tully’s Coffee, and Lotteria.

In Tokyo, metro stations provide Hot Spot. In addition, some Shinkansen starts Hot Spot service on trains run between Tokyo and Osaka from March 14, 2009.

Hot Spot is not still available in many places as America, but its number will be increased in near future.

In the US election 2008, both candidates exploited web site.

For example, Obama’s web site encouraged ordinary people to donate him…it is much easier to donate from web site rather than from bank, and it is casual.

Also such web site made it possible for young people to involve the presidential election. If young people do not watch political TV program, they certainly use internet.

With internet, election became closer to people’s daily lives. everybody has chance to involve in the presidential election; left comment on web site, donate any amount of money to candidates, get details of information of candidates and their plans, and more. To get involve more people into campaign, internet and web site are the best way.

In Japan, election is usually run through the TV program, and people cannot involve closely in it. In addition, almost no candidates exploit internet; they just blogging a little bit and left their comment and ask for donate or vote. American election system and Japanese one are different, but Japanese politicians surely can use internet and web site more effective.

Sony released new small laptop in January 2009.

It is only 588g and we can put it in pocket like the woman in the advertisement.

In order to make small portable laptop, all kinds of latest technology were used.

Also its design is elegant and beautiful, and not only men but also women can use the laptop in nice and smart way.

When I saw the advertisement for the first time, I was very surprised with its tiny size.

I thought “does it work with that size?”

However I liked the vaio type p

I can use computer anywhere, small is a good thing

I sometimes see business person who is using normal size laptop in a train,

but it always seems difficult to use it,

take out it form the bag and put the bag away, then set up for a nice position to put the laptop on his lap

I think with vaio type p, it will be much easier to use it in a train,

Just take it out from hand bag, and open it.

It is much more beautiful and smarter

“Phishing” is a fraud using internet and e-mail

Recently phishing is an increasing crime in the world, and everybody can be victims

one day, you receive a e-mail which ask you to type your credit number or your ID information.

no one usually does not believe such a kind of message, but the point is that the e-mail seems real message sent from official credit card company

if you believe the message and give your information,

your money will gone from your account someday and suddenly

not only credit card information but also your password for website, for example MySpace, Facebook, or internet bank, is a target of phishing

Be careful, if you think you wont be a victim of fraud, you will be

Be alert with giving your personal information, if you think phishing e-mail wont come to your inbox, it will come someday

Office Suite is a group of programs. An example is Microsoft Office 2007. It includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer, and Power Point. Mac OS X is also an office suite witch is available for Mac.

Browsers includes Web Browser, Help Browser, File Browser, etc.

well…i read many explanations about Browsers and Office Suites, but i could not understand what they are and what they do!! it is a mystery.

It is impossible for me to find out the differences between them…

FACEBOOK is a famous free social networking webpage. It is easy to join the Facebook, and over 150 million people are using the service. People can add their photos, music, movies, and blogs on their own page. The most attractive point of joining Facebook is to be able to keep touch with friends and family wherever you are. If you move to other country, you can know what family and friends are doing in your home country through the webpage. Facebook is a fun great tool of communication; however, everyone has to be careful about security problem. There are also many kinds of dangerous things. You should not provide too much personal information. In addition, it is easier to lie in online. People can pretend to other people; they can change age, gender, nationality, and so on. Everyone needs to bring their common sense.

My history with computers began when I was eight or nine years old.

At the time, Windows 98 was just released and my family did not use computers at home. I wanted to play with computer and I asked my father to give me a computer as my birthday present. I did not expect he bought me it, so I was really surprised when he said “umm…ok.”

I still remember the day I went to a store to buy Windows with my father and my sister. It was very exciting day. We arrived our home and my father set up the computer, and the first thing I did with computer was Hello Kitty’s coloring. It was so fun and my sister and I often argued about who play the game first.

Not only home but also elementary school had computer classes. However, I did not remember anything about classes except I got a floppy disk. Junior high and high school had computer classes, too. I learned how to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and I sometimes used Power Point for club activity’s presentations. I loved to move arrows, pictures, and words in Power Point.

Now, almost everyday I am using computers in school, but there are still many unknown things. In addition, I tend to make computers be confused, and they sometimes they do not follow my orders. I hope I can get along nicely with computers.
